This not so well known place has some of the best authentic tacos al-pastor and juices I've tried in salt lake city, great salsas as well. It might seem a bit weird at first since it is a sort of food court setting, as it is inside the "Latino Mall" (on the left aide as you enter through the main entrance). It can be a bit loud at times if there is live music bands/Karaoke, or if there is a big soccer or boxing match playing on the multiple LCD screens they have.

What a pleasant surprise! These are the best street style tacos I've ever had. Tucked away in a Latin mall, Tortas El Morense was one of the best finds this year. Recently opened, Tortas offers incredible authentic Mexican food for a great price, and is sure to please foodies all around. Get the Pastor C/ Queso with limes, cilantro and tomatillo salsa. A little on the spicy side, but the sweetness of the pineapple and the Smokey flavor of the slow cooked pork blend together to give you the best lunch on Redwood Road.

I Have been craving Tacos Al Pastor for over a year and finally found a place that delivers what I needed. Great little place in the Latin Mall. Get the Tacos Al Pastor plate for 6.50. It's filling and tastes great. Then head down to the Rancho Market bakery for some cheap delicious Mexican pastries. I had to take the wife and kids the second time so they could enjoy it as well.

Amazing! Don't expect this joint to replace the sit-down, have-a-margarita, and eat killer Mexican Food place. That's NOT what TYJEM is. DO expect them to replace the other dive-y taco shops in town that specialize in tacos al pastor. Especially after my two favorite places were shut down (temporarily) by the Health Department. I just can't bring myself to go back to either of them. This little shopping mall food court joint seems much cleaner and better than those other shops, anyway, and the food is even better! The giant al pastor turning on a spit is truly something to behold... and eat! I wanted to mix it up, so I had two carne asada, and two al pastor, tacos. Everything was delicious, but the carne asada was the same as what you get at a dozen restos and all the taco carts. Really good, but nothing unique. The al pastor is the star. Super YUMM!! Get it! They have a little salsa bar with onions, cilantro, limes and 3 salsas. They saw me load up on the red and green salsas and gave me a stern (and much appreciated) warning that the red was "very spicy." They weren't lying. They're bringing the HEAT! I was sweating pretty good, by the time I finished my tacos and it was worth every hot bite. This place gets really busy at lunchtime, so get there early or plan to spend some time waiting. I'm already anticipating my next visit to this awesome little taco... err... torta shop.

I don't know how to say it while being politically correct and avoiding offense but, I'm Hispanic so I'll go there. If you want good Mexican food, you don't go to the popular place downtown that all the tourists check out. You go get Mexican food where the Mexicans get their Mexican food and this is that place. So don't show up and act surprised or shocked if there's a wait to get your food. The carne asada, the tortas, the salsa, and jugos are all no nonsense damn good food that I swear could've been made by my Mama Panchita and takes me back to her summer home in Ensenada, Mexico ten years ago.

My coworker and I came here for Tortas. Pro's: - Decent torta - Large portions Con's: - A little expensive compared to other places I've been - Torta not as good as ones I've had before. I expected a little more pickled veggies in there. - Somewhat of a long wait for food; but ok. Overall, I'm not impressed. Probably won't be back here again.

I have gone back several times since my first review and their Pastor Game has definitely been elevated since then. Each time it is a little different...but wow. #1 Pastor slot has been filled by Tortas Y Jugos. Last time it was SPICY! Ole!

This is the real real deal. You've been fooled about Tacos al Pastor until you try the REAL tacos al Pastor at El Morelense. The salsas are to die for and the owner, his wife and employees are so nice. I think this place deserves thousands of awards. God bless you El Morelense!!! You are by far the best tacos in United States. Period.

I LOVE TACOS!!!!! Especially from here. I work right by this place and I've now limited myself to only going here 2times a month because..... Well spandex can only stretch for so long If I could eat this everyday I would! My favorite is the Al pastor tacos and you gotta have the pineapple with it! It doesn't look like much when they serve it but the flavor and the hot sauces of choice is amazing! I've had the carne asada as well and it's just as good. I've had the Huaraches thinking it was a different type of plate I was eyeballing from another customer but when I got it totally different, it's more like a big long flat bread made of masa and al pastor meat with lettuce, beans, avacodo kind of like a big taco salad! It's definitely bigger than the plate it comes on. OverAll I still liked it but was dissapointed that it wasn't like the al pastor tacos with pineapples. I guess that's what happens when you don't ask questions and can't speak Spanish.... Warning to those who doesn't like spicy, bring your milk because even the green mild sauce is HOT! I like the yellow sauce even though I end up looking like I just finished a boxing class from sweating so much. This place gets crazy busy during lunch so you will have to wait or call in your order ahead of time. I wish all my friends and family would try this place out because I know they would be hooked!

Truly some of the best meat I have ever eaten. The Pastor here is the real deal. A huge tower of marinated meat rotating on a spit and sliced off in thin slices like a gyro. If you like meat try anything with pastor there and you can not go wrong.

Full disclosure, I love Tacos and I especially love tacos al pastor. El Moralense has some of the best tacos al pastor in the valley. What sets these tacos al pastor apart from the rest is the texture. They sear the pork so that it has a crispy, bacony texture. Order the pastor in tacos, tortas or if you're a porker get the monstrously large huaracha. While the pastor is excellent, the other meat choices are just ok. Stick with the pastor here and be careful of the salsas, every one of them is burn your mouth of spicy.

I'm from California and was in search of some good tacos. I found them here!!! I'm Mexican and in my opinion they are BOMB!!! The salsa bar items are always fresh and cut nicely wich tells you the people who work there pay attention to detail.

I was at a conference nearby and my colleague suggested We go here. I'm glad we did, it was awesome. I tried 4 different tacos. Carne asada, chicken, tripe, and el pastor. I liked all of them. In order of deliciousness, el pastor, carne asada, tripe, and chicken. I could get myself to try the brain tacos but maybe next time. Give the tripe a try, fried. Fried is really good, like earthy bacon. If you get the chicken ones eat them first because the corn tortillas get soggy fast and fall apart. I got a bottle of coke and 4 tacos for just under $9.00. I consider that a good deal.

This place is legit, no pomp and circumstance, just great food for cheap. You'd be forgiven for passing by the Latino Mall without a second glance, but make the stop and treat yourself to some of the best al pastor in the valley. Huaraches are the dish of choice for most of the patrons you pass as you walk up. A large, thin piece of masa bread topped with your meat of choice (again, pastor) and salsa, cilantro, and cheese. Unless you're starving, you can safely share with a friend. If the staple dish isn't your jam, tacos, tortas, and quesadillas are all available delivery vessels for that fantastic pastor. Their juices and smoothies are the other half of this delicious equation. Brush up on your Spanish fruit names if you want to know what you're ordering. I've yet to try one I didn't like and they seem to be made fresh to order.

The pastor they sell here is the closest to the real thing they sell in Mexico. I've been to many taco places in the US and this is by far the best.

I work nearby and everyone raves about this place. Found the yelp page and bookmarked it. I don't have a car and neither does my friend and she wanted to go out to eat, bored of the cafeteria food @ work. We decided to walk here. I knew it would take a little walking around to find it but it was given away by the fact that it seemed to be the only restaurant in the mall that had customers. It meat on our meals was delicious and I loved the lighter green sauce as I love spice. I will go again.

If you want tacos but you don't want the taco cart experience, this is the place for you. The tacos al pastor and the carne asada taco were equally awesome. The meat was tender and the owner seemed really joyful....not something you see a lot in the food service business. The mango liquado was really great as well. I'll definitely be back for a torta, quesadilla, and more tacos!

Maybe we hit this place on a bad night or maybe there was a communication error cause we don't speak great spanish... But this place was not good. We got tacos, tried all 4 different kinds. The meat was super dry in all of them. When I asked my husband what he thought of the chicken he said, 'they were different flavors? Everything was just dry and chewy to me'. Our tacos had cilantro and onion and lime with the meat but we never had the option for salsas or cheese or anything to make it not really dry (I'm thinking that was a communication error? The lady who helped us barely spoke English) Over all I was disappointed. Hope for their sakes we just went on a bad night.

For me, these are the best tacos al pastor in Utah. Try the al pastor con queso y piña, and make sure to get the spicy green sauce. It's more creamy than the other green sauce and it my oh my is it delicious. Carlos the owner and his staff are very friendly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
